José Barata-Moura
ExReitor da Universidade de Lisboa. Professor catedrático da Faculdade de Letras com agregação e doutoramento, pela referida instituição, em 1985 e 1980, respectivamente. Autor de várias obras publicadas sobre Filosofia, membro de vários organismos nacionais e internacionais, antigo deputado do Parlamento Europeu, compôs durante 25 anos canções de intervenção e infantis, tendo editado cerca de 20 discos e algumas obras de literatura infantil.

Stefano Bartolini
Director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (European University Institute, Florence). He has been awarded the best book prize of the European Politics section of the APSA (2002), the Gregory Luebbert APSA Prize in Comparative Politics (2001), and the UNESCO Stein Rokkan prize for the Social Sciences (1990). His present academic interests are the relationships between the process of European integration and the key features of the European nation-state experience. His research interests have focused on Western European political development, comparative methodology, political institutions and European integration.

Filipe
Duarte Santos

Professor catedrático da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, presidente do Departamento de Física e rege disciplinas nas áreas da Física, Ambiente e Alterações Globais. Professor convidado em várias Universidades dos Estados Unidos da América e da Europa. Integra desde 1998 o Conselho Nacional do Ambiente e do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e é membro efectivo da Academia das Ciências de Lisboa. É membro da Comissão Nacional para as Alterações Climáticas. Coordena e participa em vários projectos nacionais e internacionais nas áreas do ambiente e alterações globais. Presentemente é investigador coordenador do Projecto SIAM – “Climate Change in Portugal. Scenarios, Impacts and Adaptation Measures”.

Massimiliano Guderzo
Professor of the History of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Science “Cesare Alfieri”, University of Florence (Department of Studies on the State). He held the Jean Monnet Chair of the History and Politics of European Integration at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”, 2003-2006. Research Co-ordinator of the Machiavelli Center for Cold War Studies (CIMA), he has published essays and books on British decolonisation in Africa, Spain’s neutrality in World War Two, and Euro-American relations in the Sixties (Interesse nazionale e responsabilità globale. Gli Stati Uniti, l’Alleanza atlantica e l’integrazione europea negli anni di Johnson, 1963-69, Florence, Aida, 2000).

Gilles Kepel
Holds degrees in Arabic, English and Philosophy, a diploma from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (IEP) and doctorates in sociology and political science. He is a Professor at the IEP, where he heads the post-graduate programme on the Arab and Muslim worlds.

Viriato Soromenho-Marques
Teaches Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Nature, and European Ideas in the Departments of Philosophy and European Studies of the University of Lisbon, where he is Full Professor. Since 1978 he has been engaged in the civic environmental movement in Portugal and Europe. He was Chairman of Quercus (1992-1995). He is member of the National Council on Environment and Sustainable Development. He was one of the authors of the Portuguese National Strategy for Sustainable Development (2004). He was Vice-Chair of the European Environmental and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils network (2001-2006). He is the scientific coordinator of the Gulbenkian Environment Program. Since March 2007, he is one of the twelve members of the High Level Group on Energy and Climate Change by invitation of the President of the European Commission.
